As the hula hoop frenzy makes a comeback, it is crucial to approach hula hoop exercise with caution and proper technique, experts advise. Recent reports have highlighted the risks associated with improper hula hoop movements. Instances of sudden pain in the left abdomen, accompanied by symptoms such as cold sweat and vomiting, have been reported after engaging in hula hoop exercise during morning workouts. Surprisingly, these symptoms persisted and even worsened after the exercise had ceased. On further examination, it was determined that the spleen had ruptured and hemorrhaged due to the rotational motion of the hula hoop. The affected individual had to undergo surgical treatment to recover. In some cases, individuals inadvertently injured their left hip joint while playing with hula hoops. Medical checks confirmed that the left hip joint had been fractured. In light of these incidents, experts emphasize the importance of seeking guidance from exercise professionals before engaging in hula hoop or any similar activities. Adequate preparation, allowing the body to adapt to the level of intensity, is crucial. It is essential to understand that erratic and improper shaking or twisting movements using the hula hoop not only fail to provide the desired exercise benefits but also pose a risk of compressing internal organs, muscles, and bones excessively, potentially causing harm. Therefore, hula hoop enthusiasts must pay attention to these important considerations.
